DC Charities – Fund Raising & Show Production

LYGO DC prides itself as a community of comics engaged with the greater DC community. One way we do that is partnering with DC charities and non-DC charities with a DC presence.

If you work with, for, or support a charity, please let us know by contacting signup [at] lygodc [dot] com. We are eager to talk more and offer probably the easiest way to fund raise ever devised!

Near when LYGO DC was born, we worked with and donated to N Street Village. N Street is a community of empowerment and recovery for homeless and low-income women in Washington, D.C. We also worked with and donated to OneBrick DC. Their mission is to provide support to local non-profit and community organizations. They do this by creating a unique, social, and flexible volunteer environment for folks interested in making a concrete contribution to their community.

DC Charities - DCLY LogoIn June 2013, we started a partnership with the DC Lawyers for Youth. These personal friends are true champions for the children! The DCLY were founded by alumni of the Georgetown Juvenile Justice Clinic in 2007. Since then, they’ve expanded to include lawyers, teachers, social workers, mentors and non-profit managers. Their mission is to improve juvenile justice in the District. They utilize input and participation from the entire community, including youth, parents, teachers, judges, police and more. It’s all about promoting DC youths’ success!

There’s plenty more to come and we’re very excited about it. We all need a laugh, but sometimes even more than a joke is needed… shocking, isn’t it?

Okay… maybe one joke: “I was approached by a member of Greenpeace in the street the other day and she told me that if I don’t donate $5 a month then people in Africa will die.” “I’m shocked Greenpeace employs such violent people!”
