LYGO DC and Operation Renewed Hope Foundation Partner to Counter Veteran Homelessness

LYGO DC is honored to support the folks that make stand-up comedy possible: those serving our country overseas and here at home. These folks are on the front lines everyday protecting our freedom to joke, poke fun at, and make fun of the President or whoever else might come into our verbal line of fire. And LYGO DC is dedicated to helping these individuals, when they return home, to avoid what has become an all too often fate: homelessness among Veterans.

So please allow us to introduce you to Operation Renewed Hope Foundation. ORHF is an amazing organization providing quality housing and supportive services to America’s Homeless Veterans. Astoundingly:

  • We still have over 62,000 homeless Veterans living on America’s streets
  • The unemployment rate for post 9/11 Veterans stands at 10.8%, significantly higher than the national average of 7.8%
  • Virginia leads the Nation with the highest growth rate in the Veteran population under 25 years old

With unemployment among young people at its highest rate in nearly six decades, programs to employ these young Veterans have become all the more important. Military Veterans are the heart and soul of our Nation.  These brave men and women secure the American way of life for all of us, and our families. This is why ORHF is working with the Department of Veterans Affairs and fully supports their goal of ending Veteran homelessness by 2015.

For a look at some of ORHF’s successes, check them out here.
